Welcome to the Cherkassky Family Ancestral Forest

This site is dedicated to the genealogy of the relatives of

Dimitri A. Cherkassky

My father's Cherkassky family comes from the town of Smila in the Cherkassy oblast of central Ukraine.  Our family tree is related by marriage to the families of Arbatov, Cherniak, DashevskyKazakevich, Mishin, Zamakhovsky, and others.

The Tsudikovs on my mother's female side of the family come from the small Jewish shtetl of Zlatopol in the neighboring Kirovograd region of Ukraine.   Research your Tsudikov ancestors in the Tsudikov Family Database which includes the families of Bramarov, Farber, Gershbeyn, Goshchinsky, Kobrinsky, Levitin, Portnoy, Shursterman, Tsatskin, Zaichik, and others.

The Kobrinsky Family Database and Family Tree, also rooted in Zlatopol, will be of interest to my relatives on my mother's paternal side, including the families of Gershbeyn, Portnoy, Shvartsburg, and Smekhov.

The Tsudikov family is related to families of Drobachevsky and Shlensky, whose family trees connect to ours through the parents of Yudka and Khaya Tsudikov.   This database will be of interest to families Gecht, Tolchinsky, and Toyberman.

My dear wife Sandra Loftus Cherkassky is related to the Alexanders and the Spruills of Tyrrell County, North Carolina, through her maternal great-grandmother Nancy Spruill.  Alexander family tree goes back to the 17th century in America.  Family tradition has it that the family is related to the House of Alexander which originated in the 9th century in Scotland and Ireland.
